Work at Home

October Skills to Work on at Home

Reading:
• One to one matching-does what you say match the words in the book.
• Using the following reading strategies when stuck on a word:
• Check the picture
• Check the beginning sound
• Cross Check
 Does it look right?
 Does it sound right?
 Does it make sense?
• Reading 15 minutes or more a day.

Writing:
• Using mostly lowercase when writing.
• Spaces between words.
• Starting to use a period.
• Using as many sounds as possible. (Mainly beginning and ending sounds.)
• Stories can be read by student.

Math:
• Counting and writing numbers to 100, soon to be 120.
• Recognizing numbers to 100, soon to be 120.
• Adding and subtracting using manipulative and number under 10.
