Kindergarten 2012

Hello, Parents!

 

As Forest Ridge looks to the fall of 2012 we find that we are unusually short on incoming kindergarten children. This may be due in part to the "kindergarten round up" getting messed up by our closures due to weather this year.

 

IF YOU OR SOMEONE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD has a child who will be entering Forest Ridge kindergarten in the fall, please reply and let me know. The office would like to double check to see who has already registered, and who they still need to plan on registering for next year. By knowing this in the spring, we can be sure staff and resources are allocated appropriately for the 2012-2013 school year.

Charter Survey

Dear Charter Parents,

Each year charter schools are required to do three surveys as a part of the Oregon Department of Education's Charter School grant with the U.S. Department of Education.  In order to accurately reflect what is happening, we need to have a minimum of an 80% response rate for each survey.  The student survey will be done at school so please do not have students take the survey at home. However, the parent survey you can do at home or here at the school.  We would like all surveys to be complete by May 25th.  If you do not have internet access at home you are welcome to use the computers here at school, we are open from 8 – 4:30.

Down By The Riverside Volunteer Information

THANK YOU “Down by the Riverside” 1^st – 4^th Grade Chaperones!!

The “DBR” experience is a bit different than the typical field trip in that you will not GET to ride the bus.

If you would like to check in with the classroom, to get your group list and nametag please arrive at the school at 8:45.  We will check in and then we ask that you drive/carpool if possible Willamette Mission State Park, A2, A3, B1, B2, B4, B5, B6, C3(3^rd graders), to Mission Lake B Shelter.  C1, C3(4^th Graders), C4, C5, C6 to the 2^nd Crosswalk.  Please arrive at 9:15 to get further directions for service projects.   If you cannot come to the classroom first, please let me know and you may go directly to the park and we will meet you there. Coffee will be provided at this location (thanks to StarbucksJ). Your assistance is crucial to our success.

Directions:

Travel North on Wheatland Road. Take the first park entrance on the left (just past the split rail fence). Come down through the park and meet at the Cottonwood crosswalk or Mission Lake B Shelter area. NO PARKING TICKET REQUIRED.

Please come equipped with your lunch, gloves and a bag or backpack to carry (if you have) an old sheet, towels, plastic tarp or blanket to sit on (in case we are on the grass during lunch), and lots of energy! J Cameras are MOST welcome! After the students arrive after 9:45, please help them with gloves and begin supervising the projects.

Schedule for the day:

10:00-11:15: Service Projects

11:15-11:45: Lunch 1^st & 4^th will eat at Mission A, 2^nd & 3^rd will eat at Mission B

During lunch, please take students to bathroom and make sure they wash hands. PLEASE ENCOURAGE KIDS TO PROPERLY RECYCLE their disposable lunches when they are finished.  We will need to collect it and bring it back to school.

12:00- 12:55(1^st/2^nd) Learning Projects begin promptly at 12:00. Please be in place and ready for our professionals to begin.

12:00- 1:20(3^rd/4^th) Learning Projects begin promptly at 12:00. Please be in place and ready for our professionals to begin.

1:00 (1^st/2^nd) Bus pick up and depart from Loop B

1:25 (3^rd/4^th) Bus pick up and depart from Loop B

Charter Board

A flyer went home on Thursday talking about our Charter Board. This is an important part of our Charter School. If you are interested in being a Parent Member or a Community Member please come for the next board meeting on May 14 at 6:00. It's a great way to see how a school works!

Counting Coins

Today we had a review of counting coins. It was tricky for some students. Please continue to work on counting a collection of coins using quarter, dime, nickel and penny.

Summer Birthday

If your student has a summer birthday and you would like to do a birthday celebration before the end of school, let me know and we can schedule that!
